A Two-Week Intensive: Art Song for the Concert Singer

Die Sprache der Lieder is a Salzburg-based intensive devoted to the study and performance of German art song. Designed for singers refining their recital repertoire, the program focuses on Lieder by Mozart, Schubert, and Clara & Robert Schumann, with an emphasis on text, style, and expressive communication.

Led by Passaggio faculty Barbara Bonney, Victoria Browers, and Dana Hammett, with guest faculty Abigail Nims and Johannes Oertel, singers receive private coaching, poetry-focused sessions, and group masterclasses, working closely with pianists to develop a fully text-driven interpretive approach.

Limited to four singers, the program concludes with a currated Liederabend where each particpant is featured singng 20-25 minutes of music. The concert is professionally recorded and accessable to each participant. Each participant also recieves a professional headshot session, and a mock audition with faculty feedback. Optional solo recordings are available for a nominal fee.
