This two-week intensive for singer/pianist duos is limited to four duos, offering immersive study in art song performance. Led by Barbara Bonney, soprano, and Javier Arrebola, pianist, the program provides intensive coaching and performance guidance for both singers and collaborative pianists. You do not have to be in a previously formed duo to participate!
The course is divided into two thematic weeks, each featuring four days of masterclasses and private coaching, followed by a concert on the fifth day:
Week One: Nordic Songs
Week Two: Songs of the Americas — repertoire in English and Spanish from North, Central, and South America
Across the two weeks, participants receive eight days of instruction and two fully coached performances, focusing on musical communication, textual clarity, stylistic authenticity, and expressive nuance. Duos work closely with faculty to develop interpretation, phrasing, and ensemble synergy, culminating in professionally guided concert performances that showcase their artistry.
Each artist receives a one-hour professional headshot session and a personal copy of the professionally recorded performances. An optional recording session for repertoire of your choice can also be arranged by the hour for a nominal additional fee.
